The Transition to Agriculture in East Asia
The grasses, millet and especially rice that we think of as the basis of agriculture in this part of the world didn't take hold everywhere or all at once. It took thousands of years for obviously domesticated forms to show up. For a long time they were only a part, not even the most significant part, of the early farmer's diets.
