The Importance of the Context in Clement's Argument
Clement says that works of art cannot then be sacred and divine when you include the whole context it changes everything. He's talking about the sacredness of god the divinity of the divine nature no image or artwork can match that. Clement does talk about images in an interesting way elsewhere in general so he says and let our seals be either a dove or a fish or a ship scutting before the wind or a musical liar which polychrities use as a device. If there be one fishing he will remember the apostle and the children drawn out of the water now might be maybe exodus here or maybe just baptism in general.
