Dignity is the term, but it has a kind of left wayin currency and history. And what's fascinating about trump is that he attacks dignity in both of us forms. He doesn't believe that immigrants, refugees of various minorities have an inherent dignity that it is responsibility or politician to protect. So, at an ining, double attack on dignity. To have rights is to be dignified. It's very important how you do something.
Harvey Mansfield is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Government at Harvard University and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. One of the old guard of American conservative thought, he has taught at Harvard since 1962, and counts among his former students Andrew Sullivan, Francis Fukuyama, and Bill Kristol.
