A pause is appropriate for people on the atism spectrum. By definition, they have a neurologic difficulty with social communication. You want to say, while this is communication, this person is losing their rational thought. Theyare really breaking down, and i'm not going to pursue these questions into their space. Another way of pursuing would be if somebody has a flight reaction, and they say, i can't talk about this right now.
