The Simon Islands were probably the most visible of nations who wanted to sign up to a security agreement with China. The US will particularly point it out that there are a lot of strategic concerns that might have. But apart from whatever concerns that they have in the Pacific region, they should use a chance to actually force those nations to pick a site. There's no point for them to be doing that.
