Kami Rita currently holds the record for the most summits of Mount Everest at 28. He's in the middle of an ongoing battle with another Sherpa and his friend, Pasan Dawa. The agencies that they work for offer them monetary bonuses for each summit record they achieve. Having a record holder on staff is obviously a good marketing tool for tourist climbers.
