Flight Data Recorder Failure
The flight data recorder was subject to abnormally high vibrations because one of the parometers failed to record, and one needle recorded some lines twice. The board found that these pins and sleeves in the vertical stabilizer attachment fittings were not what they were supposed to be. All four sleeves and two front pins did not conform to the specified hardness. Their actual hardness yielded a tinsile strength of a little more than 50 % of the specified value.
