The Origins of the Beast Hunts

The Romans used local Italian hunters to hunt the animals. The Tentiretai people who lived on the west bank of the Nile, they would have grown up being taught how to hunt crocodiles. Augustus in 2BC was able to put on a big show for the opening of the Forum of Augustus and have these 36 crocodiles slaughtered. He flooded the circus fluminous to do that as well.
