The Importance of Unbiased Forecasts
In August 2011, the CBO projected that the economy would grow at a dot-com-era pace starting in 2014. In fact, by 2014, the economy was growing at the same pace that it did at the dot-com crash. The Social Security Administration itself forecasts that it's not going to be solvent beyond the next 15 years or so.
