The Birth Process - The Four Stages
Stangroff divides the birth process into four stages. Each of these stages have psychological components. In stage three there's a sense of fighting for something, like you finally have something that you know you're fighting for and you see the light,. And even if you're not fighting as the baby, because you're being pushed, you're so inexorably connected to the mother who is fighting. Then in stage four, then is the emergence into a new world, a separation from all that you've known, but in ideal circumstances, a reconnection with the mother.
