The Importance of Subsidiarity in Political Science
The concept of subsidiarity, where decision making with respect to problems is pushed down to the most distal level. It was a word that was on the lips of the founders of the European Union but as a concept this whittled away and eventually disappeared from the lexicon. People tend to get obsessed with how to avoid cheating in elections or how to prevent poor barreling in religious processes. I don't think that's where the attention should be. Those things follow naturally from centralization and increasingly increasing scale of government. You ought to be applying our mind to how localization can be fostered decentralization,. then those problems will go away or at least moderate.
