The Common Pathogens in Brain Abscesses

90% of brain abscesses in children are super tentorial. Mastoiditis, spenoidal sinusitis, otitis media results in brain abscess in the temporal lobe or cerebellum. Frontal lobe brain abscess are due to frontal or ethmoid sinusitis or dental infections. Brain abscess from hematogenous spread result in multiple abscesses and typically follow the distribution of middle cerebral artery including the parietal and occipital lobes.
