Feynman's Memorization Versus Understanding
I think Feynman was very in tune with himself and he he would be very honest about whether something was confusing or not. He wasn't afraid to say I don't understand and he'd stop you know the explainer and have them give an example. A lot of people were either too shy or kind of intimidated or something so we're just kind of kind of nod our heads and pretend to understand when we're actually lost. It's a misconception that a lot of students have that they see all these sort of bewildering concepts and ideas and go to memorizing because it seems to be the only road into this thicket of intellectual space.
