The Dilemma of Gus the Polar Bear
Polar bear Gus was left heartbroken when his girlfriend Lily died in 2004. The zoo gave him a new lover, Ida, but she passed away of liver disease in 2011. In 2013, veterinarians found out that he had an inoperable thyroid tumor. And poor Gus had to be euthanized.
