The Heidelberg Catechism and the Importance of Humiliation

Christ suffered the pangs of hell in the garden and on the cross. And then he entered the deepest humiliation of the state of death. That humiliation is described in our or in what's called the ecumenical creeds, the apostles creed as his descent into Hades or his descent into hell. The answer provided there is to assure me during attacks of deepest dread and temptation that Christ my Lord has delivered me from hellish anguish and torment.
