The Invasion of Afghanistan by the East India Company
In 1839, the East India Company sent an army of 20,000 to Afghanistan. They crossed the Balochistan desert in the middle of summer with seapoys dropping like flies. The British were unprepared for it and had no option but to negotiate a retreat. When they begin to march on the 6th January 1842, 17,000 people are killed.
