Why Do Countries Turn Inwards?

When we're in a crisis, we turn inwards because we think it'll protect us. But the most dangerous thing you can do is to concentrate everything you depend on geographically. That's putting all your eggs and your whole supply chain in one geographic basket. And when things go wrong locally, then everything falls apart immediately.
