126. JR King - Does the brain run on deep learning?
Towards Data Science
Do You Know What's Going on in the Brain?
We know from early work that we have specific areas in the brain which are specific to faces. And so you can think of those areas as containing neurons and therefore the voxel that we measure will respond every time that there is a face. In deep nets, now especially in visual deep nets,. they are outshone neurons which specifically responds to faces as well. So we can try to see, okay, for those two, do we find that they actually get their response to the same type of content in images? For this, we present the same images to humans and to the algorithm. And try to see whether we can find this match between the activation that we record in the brain
