The focal point of the story as a concern Schostakovich's 11th symphony is January 9th, 1905. This day soon to be known as Bloody Sunday sparked full-scale workers strikes all across Russia. The question also has to be why always talk about politics and Stalin in the Soviet Union when we talk about the music of Schostakvich.
