It seems to me that the two fundamental changes have been the transformation of the American right from the Republican party of George Jodie Bush which had many flaws within it. And then on the other hand the sort of strange transformation of the left in which this sort of single-minded focus on identity and the modernization of ethnic religious, racial, sexual, gender groups has taken place.
