Dunkirk is a key part of Britain's national story. Why did Hitler not jump at this golden opportunity to knock out the remnants of the British armed forces? The most likely answer is that Hitler thought that even doing so would not create a total knockout off Britain. With Belgium surrendering and the British out of the picture for now, France is on her own.
