Divorce - What's the Difference?

In most of the country, we have just a regular common law property system similar to what you have in Australia or Britain. In States that used to be part of Mexico plus Wisconsin, which is the outlier,. You have Spanish, what's called community property law. If you're the wealthier spouse and you're getting divorced, you're just screwed. The US is much tougher in a divorce than the way you've described Australia.
