Kierkegaard was looking and wanting to change the culture from a kind of, I don't know the right term aesthetic Christianity or kind of surface Christianity. He chose to write a series of works that were almost theatrical because he comes in and he inhabits different characters as he's writing these various books. So you had a variety of characters, the encryption within the Danish society, and they were of diverse outlooks. Some of them were religious, some of them were ethical but not religious or not very religious, and others were outright as fast.
