The Role of Investment Professionals at Carlisle

I joined Carlisle about 12 years ago to come in and my training is in financial account metrics. So it was to take a more scientific approach to the data that's generated by our portfolio companies. And so what we do is essentially algorithmically weight incoming monthly performance data from the companies based on its sensitivity to macroeconomic aggregates like GDP or retail sales or industrial production. Then look at what those incoming data suggest about trends in the economy across these spending categories, across geographies for maybe the next three to nine months. Of course, as we've seen with the pandemic and other shocks, it's just challenging to forecast two weeks into the future.
