The First Named Poet Is Inheduana
The first named poet is a woman called inheduana. She, around four thousand, 300 years ago, was the high priestess a temple in the city of ur. When ur was excavated by british archaeologists, as it turned out, they found gold and silver and gems. They were also recording the written word. We know that because the archaeologists found great masses of clay tablets into which had been impressed a language. And some of it was was hymns and poems of praise to gods and goddesses.
