Kanye West's Manic Crisis
For 15 years or more, I had been in a cycle of very common to people with bipolar disorder. So the experience of having a manic period and developing psychosis was certainly not new to me. My position has always been that my mental state does not excuse the things that I do when I am manic, but it does explain them. And it should therefore mitigate, not remove, but mitigate responsibility.
