Palmer's trial for the murder of john parsons cook began on may fourteenth 18 56 at the old bailey london. The men who had been drinking with cook and palmer when he first mentioned that throat burning sensation, were called for testimony. Palmer was found guilty by a jury after just an hour and 15 minutes of deliberation. He was executed by hanging on june fourteenth 1856.
