What Do They Really Think of Me?
In our culture, it's standard to meet somebody and say, by the way, first of all, it'sstandard not to acknowledge them. If you're on the street, you don't say anything. But if you're at a cocktail party, or if you're even maybe going down the hallway in the school, you might say, hi, how are you? You might say this to a colleague, for instance, not someone you know terribly well but you meet them in the hallway. What we seek out is usually here, we're going to get back to your falsely false thing. Seek out in our social relations to minimize the threatening part.
