The ERroneous ACTH Assay

The follicle stimulating hormone was 1.6 international units per liter with normal being 1 to 12. Lute-nizing hormone was 4.0 international units per Liter with normal being 0.6 to 12.1. A prolactin was normal at 11.5 micrograms perliter with normal being 3.6 to 18. As Dosterone was within the normal limits at 771 nanograms per deciliter with normal being again 240 to 871. Some additional history was obtained from the patient and family and they documented normal pubertal changes including pubic hair, scrotal development and voice change. He had some facial hair but rarely shaves. He does have
