The Role of Social Understanding in Language Development

A study tested children on how well they were able to understand some of these Greisian maxims. It found that four-year-olds generally had basically a chance understanding, which might mean they understood a few of them but not enough for it to show up significantly in the data. Five-year-old seem to understand some kinds of cooperation, but not others. And six-year- olds perform like adults.
