Distressing Near-Death Experiences and the Survival of Consciousness

This chapter examines distressing near-death experiences (NDEs) and their potential implications for the survival of consciousness after death. It discusses the limitations of naturalistic explanations for NDEs and explores the possibility that some distressing NDEs may have a natural explanation due to disorientation and inaccurate perceptions. The chapter also explores the challenges of distinguishing between real NDEs and distressing false ones based on emotional content and proposes the idea that disturbing NDEs may be misunderstandings of pleasant experiences.
