How Would a Government Go Back to Gold?

If a government did want to go back toward something like the classical gold standard, how would it do it? The best proposal i've seen is actually from living von mises. Carlos lara and i think maybe i've told this story before, in our book, how privatized banking really works. We had a proposal for how could the us Government go back to gold. And we were saying, what the fed could do is announce a price of gold and say, we will buy and sell dollars for gold at this rate.
