The Speaker's Budget and the Debt Ceiling Bill
The debt ceiling bill is meant to be a proxy for the Speaker's budget proposal, which would reduce the deficit by $3 trillion over the course of the next decade. The American people recognize that what Speaker McCarthy has put forward in terms of the default on America Act is not a budget, it is a ransom note. So at the end of the day, I think House Republicans should do what they have done previously when President Trump was president and ultimately commit to ensuring that America pays its bills irrespective of who might be in the White House.
