The third step you can take to create a non-anxious culture is to focus on self-awareness. Once you are aware of your automatic tendencies, you have a much better chance of regulating them so that you don't actually respond automatically in anxious situations. The way Prophet puts it is, if the leader can self-regulate, they are able to say what they need to say like it's no big deal. That reminded me of a recent phone conversation I had this week where I had to break some bad news to somebody and my wife who had been listening to the conversation said something like, well, that was to the point or you acted like that was no big deal,. And
An emotionally mature culture is a non-anxious culture. Systems that function this way are more resilient and adaptive in the face of inevitable challenges. Here's how you can foster this kind of culture.
