i feel as though our narratorh's been sitting there the whole story, trying to keep j p talking and not to think about himself. And then suddenly this woman actually arrives, and she's present, and it's not a story any more. I think what he sees is that she still loves j p, e, right? Despite everything. She's tender with him. And he wants a piece of that really badly. But Roxy is not the person for him to get it from. So i think the combination of her beauty, as they describe it, and then her job and her strength, this gale force of a person. It was when i read that i thought,
