Dharmic Buddhist aims and values are what we try to create in our own life and practice. We're trying to counter-greed with a passion for the Dharma, with contentment, with a simple life. A few days ago I was reading a very beautiful poem by a modern poet that ended on a rather earthy note. The author of the poem concluded by talking about what we would call individuals and she said, we are earthworms. To be an earthworm is a very high ideal.
