The Language of the New Empire

There's a contradiction or networks between the peasantry and extended beyond it. In fishing networks, you've got tax cleatous and fishermen interconnected. So already there, there are people with competing and different material interests. And so in one sense, you can see how the language of a new empire, a new kingdom, new rulership, new hierarchy can feed into Rome quite easily. This is the fulfillment of those millenarian promises. You can see also how opposition to that can be retained because there is a very stark sayings on rich and poor in the gospel tradition. There is what I guess became known as the third race and all this kind of thing emerging with John's gospel
