The revolution is seen as basically conservative, with its meaning and its purpose defined by a small male elite. And of course, this movi takes place in 19 76, when the bicentennial of independence was being celebrated. To day, you could say the founding fathers have sort of a second life as objects, as tokens of the culture war.
