Stoics were not canceling going back to nature as in your tree hugging and living in a cave. For the stoics, human nature was the nature of a social animal capable of rationality. To follow nature for a human being means to use reason to help with social life. And it's very distinct from saying that an earthquake is natural and so I have to accept it.
