The Benefits of Strength Training

The best thing you can do for cardio is strength training, says Dr. Brian O'Neill. Strength training has similar acute and chronic adaptations as cycling in between leg press exercise and a recumbent bike with the exact modalities that we use. If somebody is already what I would term a cardio athlete, a cyclist, a runner, a triathlete, so forth, they might not see big improvements in their performance by adding strength training. But they shouldn't see any detrimental effects.
