Aristotle's politics was getting quite a bit of attention in this period. William Cecil, a powerful minister under Queen Elizabeth, even asked the scholastic thinker John Case to write a commentary on the politics,. It was published in 1588. The upshot was, as a study of this commentary has put it, to transform Aristotle from ancient Greek polis dweller to Tudor loyalists and proto-feminist.
