Optimizing for Complex Systems

The model of a complex system is not how the complex system actually works. When we treat the actual reality as the model and we try and optimize for the model, the place in which the reality is not the model gets fucked up. Then you have to say is there a different epistemology other than end dimensional metrics and optimization theory to account for what is actually going on?
