In the last few weeks russia has really crossed the line, i think, into a more sort of chaotic and frightening position. I know thats a very unfashionable word, but i do think it's the right way to use for a couple of reasons. The first is that a new law has been passed on faint news which ends any pretence of russians being able to come to their own conclusions. Or in the story of the russian regime itself, from hybrid to plitics, scientists would call a fully authoritarian regime. So there's a turn toward much more severe repression then. And even calling it a war can result in that sentence.
