Nephrotic Syndrome
The most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in the United States is diabetes. To determine whether it's acute or chronic, the best answer to that is what's the creatinine tomorrow? Or if you can figure out what was creatinine yesterday, right? Is this creatinine going to be 2.5 every day? Then we've got pretty good evidence that this is chronic. If it's 2.8 or 3 tomorrow, it looks like it's pretty much acute disease. And so that's one of the important clues that we use to try to differentiate between diabetic disease and something different.
