Grief Is a Stable Trajectories of Healthy Functioning
People who show this pattern basically struggle a little bit initially with the shock, the pain of loss. It's normal to feel the pain, but not to let it become too intense so that it is kind of paralyzing or prevents you from functioning. The reality is we will move in and out of grief while we mourn. It doesn't make us callous or insensitive or avoidant. It makes us human. But for most of us, I think this process is extremely effective and it does run its course relatively more quickly than we think it does.
