It's the opposite of the question mark top back. The exclamation point, it surely means I'm very surprised. It's not a thank you. All you need to do is imagine like what are the words that would come before the exclamation mark right? So I don't have to go. Whoa. You should be able to infer. Apple calls this emphasized. If you get it as a notification, it says like so and so emphasize the message.
