Brent: The idea that John for sure himself didn't write it, I don't think he's that much of a stretch for most people. Dr. Burch talks about the motif of misunderstandings and how he writes in chapter three. Brent: This is perhaps one of John's deepest ironies; this lets us see something more profound than anyone expects. He says Jesus' crucifixion was described as "glorifying" his death on the cross.
