The Radical Critics of the New Sociology of Education

The laftiss are crackpots. Their problem was that this is a hegemonic force, as they would put it, and that hegemony must be broken down. The fact that schools that deal with lots of children and teach them how to perform and function in society instrumental knowledge, seems also like a good idea. And the fact that public schooling offered limited individual mobility to members of the working class and other oppressed groups? I don't think tha likely to be as true as he's making out.
