The hard problem of consciousness is the problem of explaining how physical processes in the brain somehow give rise to subjective experience. When it comes to explaining behavior we've got a pretty good bead on how to explain it. But when it comes to consciousness, to a subjective experience it looks as if that method doesn't so obviously apply. I mean there are some aspects of consciousness which are roughly speaking behavioral or functional you could use. It's one of the fundamental facts about ourselves that we have this kind of subjective experience.
