In the late 18 hundreds, a grain merchant in Minnesota came up with an idea for how to store grain. He wanted to try something different than wooden and square silos that were prone to catching on fire. So he decided to build a cylindrical concrete grain silo. But people thought it would collapse or burst if let out too much grain at once. It proved them all wrong - now there are thousands of Grain Silos around the world.
